Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we—with generous sponsorship from Skilos, A Family Pet Store—plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: a kind and sweet snowshoe boy named Ricky.
Meet Ricky. This handsome snowshoe boy has striking eyes, a beautiful coat, and a gentle soul that prefers a slow pace. New people and sudden movements can be scary for Ricky due to his time on the streets. He’s not the cat who greets visitors or demands attention from everyone he meets. He’s looking for a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. Ricky needs someone willing to let him set that pace and celebrate the little victories.

Once Ricky decides you’re one of his people, you’ll find a sweet and affectionate companion. He enjoys gentle pets, will happily take treats from your hand, and has an endearing habit of cuddling up against you. Watching Ricky learn to feel safe makes every ounce of patience worthwhile.
Ricky would prefer to be the only cat in the home and would thrive in a quiet household with experienced, cat-savvy adults or respectful older children. He is FIV+, but cats with FIV can live long, normal, and happy lives. The right person for Ricky isn’t looking for a cat who loves everyone. They’re looking for the kindest sweetest boy who will adore his people. If that sounds like you, Ricky is waiting to be the best decision you ever made.
