Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition—a local organization that’s dedicated to creating a no kill community by humanely reducing the cat population in the Milwaukee area through targeted trap-neuter-return (TNR)—to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: a love bug named Olive.
Meet Olive! After being rescued from the streets of Milwaukee, Olive decided indoor life is pretty sweet and the people who give her tasty food and chin scritches might be heaven sent.
Olive is growing into quite a love bug. From being cuddled like a baby to jumping up to join her foster dad on a couch, she seeks out affection and pets. She’s even allowing her foster dad to carry her around. Her lover girl personality fully reveals itself when people are winding down for the evening and settling in for some TV or a good book. Then it’s time for kisses, pets, and snuggles. She’ll purr the entire time. If you’re lucky, she might even give you a kiss on the nose. Olive also has this funny habit of standing on her back legs and moving her front paws around in the air. It’s super silly and totally endearing.
Adopters should expect Olive to watch new people from a safe distance until she gets to know them better. She is a sweetheart after you pass her “kind human” test. Since Olive spent much of her kittenhood outside, she will require patience as she figures out her forever home. Loud noises and unexpected movements will send Olive into temporary hiding to reevaluate her surroundings. This will diminish as time passes.
Olive is very interested in other cats. The perfect home will have another cat friend or two, or be a space for her to be your one and only.
