In June 2020, Luv Unlimited—a Bay View boutique and vintage retailer—was forced to close shop as a result of an electrical fire that occurred in the apartment above the store’s longtime home at 2649 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. Just shy of six years after that blaze, the long-shuttered retailer will reopen in a new location under a slightly different name.

The store, now called Luv 2, held a soft opening party at it news digs at 2652 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., almost directly across the street from its original location, last night. The new location is the former site of Alive And Fine, which closed in January after a nine-year run.

The so-called “art gallery and sustainable fashion boutique” will officially open to the public on Saturday, April 4. Once opened, Luv 2’s hours will be noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, and closed on Tuesdays. You can follow Luv 2 on Facebook and Instagram for more information about the store.

Coincidentally, the long-vacant Luv Unlimited space (2649 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) will soon be home to a retailer that’s also dealing with property damage. The newcomer is none other than Omen, a goth-tinged shop that specializes in subculture clothing and accessories.”

Its original location, 1310 Milwaukee Ave. in South Milwaukee, is temporarily closed due to water damage that forced the store to close in late March. As they tend to the damage at the flagship store, a recent post from Omen indicates they’re “aiming to be ready by May” in the Bay View location.

Finally, we conclude this round up of new Bay View stores opening within a block of each other by letting you know Strange Scene is now open. The self-described “occult shop” opened last month at 2681 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. in the former site of Altar, another store with a metaphysical focus.
