Remember Don Majkowski? It’s okay if you answered no to that question. For those unfamiliar, the “Majik Man” was the Packers quarterback in the late ’80s and early ’90s—and a Pro Bowler nonetheless!—until an injury he sustained early in the 1992 season brought some guy named Brett Favre under center, forever changing both players’ lives and Green Bay’s trajectory in the process.

To honor the Wally Pipp of the NFL and acknowledge the career of a man whose only fault was being worse at football than Brett freaking Favre, Bay View’s Crafty Cow has planned a Majik: The Gathering of sorts. On July 7 (aka 7/7), Green Bay’s infamous No. 7 will be the subject of Don Majkowski Day at the bar and burger joint.

Crafty Cow will tap a 7.7 percent ABV “Majikal IPA” from Eagle Park Brewing Company at 4:07 p.m. At seven points throughout the night, there will be a 77-cent beer special that will last seven minutes. Additionally, anyone who comes in with a mullet or wearing Packers Zubaz will receive a free beer.

Why is Crafty Cow doing this? “Majkowski was why I fell in love with the Packers living in San Diego as a kid,” Mike Bodow, co-owner of Crafty Cow and Twelve12 Hospitality Group says.

That’s a good enough answer for us.
