March Madness continued to dole out the upsets Sunday night when No. 7 Wisconsin beat No. 2 Xavier via a last-second three-point shot from Bronson Koenig. The state rejoiced as the Badgers advanced to the Sweet Sixteen, though one member of the crowd wasn’t as thrilled: Bill Murray. The actor/national treasure was at the game rooting for Xavier (Murray’s son is an assistant coach for the team), and appeared speechless and crushed as Wisconsin celebrated its improbable victory. It’s a defeated look Murray hasn’t sported since he was slimed in the hallways of the Sedgewick Hotel.
So, while the great state of Wisconsin had a big part in making Bill Murray sad, we’ll always have a briefly popular “sad Bill Murray” meme, which is nice. [via Mashable]
