Every Wednesday at noon, Ryan Schleicher, Evan Rytlewski, and Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Milwaukee music, Milwaukee art, Milwaukee events, and D.I.Y. lawn care tips are frequently discussed—and rarely agreed upon. The Disclaimer: Talk radio for the sane.

By now the dustup over Leon’s Frozen Custard is old news, but to recap: an “English-only” policy at the iconic Milwaukee destination was discovered, everyone got pissed, Leon’s owner defended said policy, everyone got really pissed, Leon’s owner rescinded said policy, everyone came away happy. Well, maybe not the last part. Ryan, Evan, and Matt wonder why an apparent swift and successful campaign to end an ignorant and illegal policy hasn’t been met with more enthusiasm, and ponder the similarities and differences between the controversy and other similar stories. Shouldn’t we consider the Leon’s case a “win,” or are we unsure what to do once the initial outrage subsides? Next, the end of Summerfest’s KNE New Music Stage is discussed, along with what it means (and doesn’t mean) for the future of local music at the Big Gig.
