Save for occasional one-off shows in town, Milwaukee rapper, filmmaker, and visuals wizard WC Tank has kept things pretty quiet musically speaking since shortly after the release of Kisscry Patina some 18 months ago. Instead, Tank has been busy behind the camera, making music videos and tour visuals for the Los Angeles-based Hellfyre Club collective (which is also the subject of his forthcoming tour documentary), creating a sizzle reel for Serengeti character Kenny Dennis, and putting single-joke premises to film for local entertainment publications.

The artsy emcee miraculously has also found time to record a new EP and work on his own music video for a change. “Blend Modes” is the first single and video off the unreleased EP Almost Forever. The ivory tickling effort is visually represented by dizzying imagery and WC Tank’s wordy witticisms being spelled out amid spinning shapes and neon wipes.

WC Tank will drop Almost Forever—which will be the first release on Milwaukee ex-pat Milo’s “The Penobscot Expedition” clearinghouseAugust 30 at Mad Planet. He’ll be joined on the bill by WebsterX, Riley Lake, Airo Kwil, and Nicolas J. He says the physical CD will come with remixes and a DVD with Bread Mothers’ visual score of the release, “all sandwiched inside of a zine of poems and illustrations.”

If “Blend Modes” isn’t enough to whet your appetite for an artist who hasn’t released anything in (you guessed it!) quite a while, WC Tank is also hosting an August 29 potluck and listening/screening party at Usable Space Gallery (1950 S. Hilbert St.) in Bay View at 8 p.m.
