Can Milwaukee claim Sylvan Esso? If you’re a weary internet commenter who gets bent out of shape every time we write about an artist who grew up outside the city limits (“Actually, Juiceboxxx is from Mequon,”) then no. Sylvan Esso is from Durham, North Carolina, and does not call Milwaukee home. If you’re anyone else, who cares? Nick Sanborn—a.k.a. one half of the electro-pop superstar duo—is a former Milwaukeean and a former member of beloved Milwaukee band Decibully. What’s more, Sanborn and his future Sylvan Esso collaborator Amelia Meath met at a Cactus Club show in 2010. So there.

Anyway, Sylvan Esso’s Grammy-nominated sophomore album What Now is really good, and Meath and Sanborn are set to play two Milwaukee shows at the Pabst Theater, Saturday, July 21, and Sunday, July 22. Nice! General admission tickets are $25 in advance, or $28.50 the day of the show. They go on sale Friday, December 8, at 10 a.m.

Also, here’s a Sylvan Esso video shot in Milwaukee.
