Happy Valentine’s Day, Milwaukee! Hopefully you spent the weekend cuddled up close to that special someone. If Cupid’s arrow missed you this year, cheer up knowing Milwaukee party-pop purveyor Rio Turbo and wunderkind producer Dashcam didn’t forget about you. To mark the holiday, the pair came together to remix “20/20” off last year’s self-titled Rio Turbo record, and, with the help of local multimedia artist Dan Boville, release a video for the song to serve as a visual valentine of sorts.

The collaboration came to be when Rio Turbo (Joe Peterson) sought out producers for a Rio Turbo remix album he’s planning to release on Gloss Records a few months from now. Using Rio’s already synth-heavy and effect-laden original version of “20/20” as the foundation, Dashcam worked his magic to forge a sexually charged and ’80s-tinged remix of the song. From there, Boville provided a fitting video pairing by cutting together found footage ranging from dancing mannequins, diving whales, flowers in bloom, and burning buildings to match the raw intensity of “20/20.”

“We briefly discussed the theme of the video—domestic lifestyle, heartbreak, lust—and then [Boville] just ran with it,” Peterson says. “Due to the lyrical content and the general mood of the song, I thought Valentine’s Day would be a perfect day to premiere the video.”
