Dozens of electronic- and experimental-minded artists will set up shop at Acme Records and Cactus Club this weekend for the inaugural Synth Fest MKE. Among the fest’s more well-known acts (Jon Mueller, adoptahighway, Signal Drift) is a relative newcomer to the scene, Liquid City Motors. The project is the brainchild of Will Mitchell, whose past collaborations with Athletic Supply’s Max Holiday have put him squarely in the “young and prodigiously talented” camp of Milwaukee music. An untitled Liquid City Motors EP was released back in February via Holiday’s Close Up Of The Serene label; now, a similarly untitled follow-up is available for streaming or purchase on Bandcamp.

Untitled 2 finds Mitchell in an agreeably retro mood, evoking mood-enhancing house on “Funktional Mathematiks,” and jungle-flecked breakbeat on “Lafayette Hill.” Closer “Cirrostratus (Iridescent Mix),” meanwhile, is an elevating trip miles removed from the more knotty and heavy tracks found on Untitled 1. Listen to the latest from Liquid City Motors below, and catch Mitchell at Synth Fest MKE Sunday night at Cactus Club.
