Way back in January, an icy Monday night in Milwaukee was livened up with news that Post Animal was playing a show at Cactus Club. Why was that such a big deal? Well, the Chicago-based psych-rock sextet featured Joe Keery on guitar, whom the world knows better as big-haired heartthrob “Steve Harrington” on Stranger Things.

This fall was to bring a similar situation, as Post Animal was booked to headline a November 18 show at the Bay View club, just weeks after the release of Netflix sci-fi series’ second seasonUnfortunately, anyone looking to return to the environment of that well-attended concert that came with a dash of streaming service star-power will be trapped in The Upside Down this time around. Post Animal was just forced to cancel tonight’s Cactus Club show.

On November 10, while on tour in support of White Reaper, a Post Animal member was hospitalized due to “a small medical emergency” that forced the band to cancel the following night’s show in Buffalo. The shorthanded group, which was already playing without Keery on that run of shows, forged on until its tour with White Reaper ended in Madison last night. With their tour obligations over and being just hours from Chicago, Post Animal decided not to play tonight’s one-off headlining set in Milwaukee.

According to Cactus Club’s website, tickets have been refunded and the show has been rescheduled for next spring. No word on whether Keery will be touring with the band again by the time that show rolls around. If you were planning on seeing Post Animal tonight, you should probably make other plans…or just stay in and rewatch Stranger Things.
