Though Club Garibaldi’s stage will be empty for the entirety of July and most of August, the vastly underrated venue will come back strong with some great shows between the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Before Neil Hamburger runs the Bay View club through his gauntlet of grotesque gut-busters on September 25, and 14 Latest Flame Records acts (including a reunion set from The Response!) will bid the label a fun farewell between October 23 and October 24, rock legends Meat Puppets will grace Club Garibaldi’s stage in what’s sure to be a memorable August 28 appearance.

The band, which was famously covered during Nirvana’s iconic MTV Unplugged performance (which also featured founding Meat Puppets members Cris and Curt Kirkwood playing along), has been playing its inimitable style of country-tinged punk on and off since 1980. This Friday night show will mark the second time Meat Puppets have played Milwaukee (and Club Garibaldi) since the band’s 2013 stop in support of Rat Farm. Advance tickets cost $13 and go on sale tomorrow. If any remain the day of the show, they’ll be $16.
