Originally founded after a realization that Milwaukee’s area code (414) contains the same sequence of numerals as the date April 14, Milwaukee Day has quickly blossomed from a noble celebration of civic pride to a full-fledged holiday. Last year’s festivities saw Milwaukee Day’s founders ringing the morning bell at City Hall, Andy Silverman throwing out the first pitch at Miller Park, Mayor Tom Barrett issuing an official Milwaukee Day proclamation, tons of events and deals occurring throughout town, and the day concluding as Decibully and Juniper Tar reunited to play a Turner Hall show (with Whips).

That show, which we named one of the best Milwaukee concerts of last year, will be hard to top. However, the now-annual Milwaukee Day Turner Hall show will bring about some of the city’s favorite acts to celebrate all things local in 2015. To close out a wonderful day that will surely be bursting with awesome local fun, Hugh Bob & The Hustle and Greatest Lakes (fresh off their Mitten Fest performance) will take the stage at Turner on Tuesday, April 14. Doors open at 6:30 (show at 7:30), and tickets cost $10. Co-founder and organizer Andy Silverman tells us one more act will be added to the show in the coming weeks.
