When we first checked in with Rx Drugs last October, the Milwaukee super group fronted by The Championship singer-guitarist Joe Crockett and featuring members of Dashboard Confessional, Hugh Bob & The Hustle, and Trapper Schoepp And The Shades was preparing for its first show. Since the band’s Tonic Tavern outset last autumn, only a select few shows have followed, and nary a release date for the project’s already-recorded debut full-length has been set. Unless you’ve made a concerted effort to see Rx Drugs, it’s quite possible you have absolutely no idea what they sound like.

With a Club Garibaldi show with Trapper Schoepp exactly a month from today, Crockett and company wanted to prepare prospective listeners for what they’re to hear by presenting the first single from the band’s record, Future Friction, which they hope to release this summer. Led by Crockett’s timeless, lacquered voice, “Mountain Of Dreams” channels High Feather-era Championship’s emotion with accents of driving guitar, and a subtle depth that commands (at least) a second listen. Before next month’s Club G headlining performance and Future Friction‘s eventual release, stream “Mountain Of Dreams” now, only at Milwaukee Record.
