Harley-Davidson will celebrate its 115th anniversary this Labor Day weekend with oodles of parties, parades, and clearly promoted concerts that absolutely won’t feature The Rolling Stones or Bruce Springsteen. There’ll be plenty of other motorcycle-fueled events happening around town, too; one of the biggest and baddest will certainly be Boone Row III, coming to Boone & Crockett and The Cooperage August 31-September 2.
“It started two years ago as a one-night excuse to get some generally pretty heavy bands together on the cozy patio of the old Boone & Crockett, play some greasy old motorcycle films, and have a good time,” explains Al Kraemer, one of the organizers of Boone Row III and singer for Milwaukee stoner/cycle-rock mainstays Moon Rats and Calliope.
With more room to work with and more exhaust fumes in the air, the third installment of Boone Row plans to do it big. Inside and outside, psych-minded outfits like Lumerians (Oakland), Telekinetic Yeti (Dubuque), and the Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show (“the best liquid light show in the entire country”) will provide the tunes and, well, liquid light shows. Local heavy hitters like Tigernite, King Eye & The Squirts, and Slow Walker will be on hand as well. (Kraemer’s Moon Rats will be celebrating the vinyl release of their excellent 2017 record Highway Lord.)
If that wasn’t enough, Milwaukee’s own Rebel HellRiders will be setting up their Wall of Death outside the Boone/Cooperage complex, joining a host of food and drink vendors. What’s a Wall of Death? This is a Wall of Death:
