Last year, Blackbird Bar launched the unique “From The Stage To The Booth” DJ series with a simple concept: allow Milwaukee bands get behind the turntables every Friday night and play whatever the hell they want. The localized theme was befitting of a Bay View bar with close to 90 Wisconsin beers (and no variations of Budweiser) on hand, and had such highlights as Midnight Reruns unveiling its astounding self-titled album for the first time publically, Drugs Dragons playing an acapella version of Toto’s “Africa,” and Crappy Dracula playing all the crazy shit you’d expect Crappy Dracula to play.

Following a successful inaugural campaign that stretched into June, a new batch of musicians (and music-related entities) will make the journey from the stage (or desk, in some cases) to the booth. Blackbird owner Holly Doar says she intends for the series to run through late spring again. Thursday, the lineup from next weekend through the end of 2014 was announced. The eclectic musical mishmash features everything from experimentalist Old Earth, electro-poppers GGOOLLDD and Canopies, the rock-leaning-spin services of Whips and Space Raft, and even a local set (with occasional Weird Al departures) from your pals at Milwaukee Record.
