This summer, a business calling itself “Milwaukee’s first and only boîte”—basically, a French word that means small lounge or nightclub—will open on the edge of Walker’s Point and within spitting distance of Bay View. For those of you who hadn’t heard already, Points View Boîte took over 1619 S. 1st St., the longtime site of Monkey Bar and a property which was most recently home to the short-lived Mezcal Tavern, this winter and announced its intentions to open by the end of summer.

Following roughly six months of staffing, extensive interior renovations, and crafting a “French-inspired” drink menu replete with “worldly cocktails from around the globe,” it appears the boîte owned by professional dancer Marcos Ramos-Garcia finally has an opening date. Well, it at least has a soft opening date.

On Thursday, August 10 and Friday, August 11, Points View Boîte will open its doors to the public. From 6 p.m. until close, prospective patrons can work their way down the drink list, take in the decorative changes, and get an extended sample of what to expect when the lounge officially opens by late August or early September.
