Comet Cafe is no stranger to positive attention. Adding to the oodles of local awards and praise from national publications the venerable East Side bar and restaurant has accumulated in its 20-plus years in business is considerable screen time the quaint Milwaukee cafe has earned on television—most notably, Comet’s appearance on Food Network’s Guy Fieri-hosted Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Next week, Comet’s TV résumé will grow even more, when the beloved Milwaukee cafe will be featured on Travel Channel’s popular Food Paradise.

The program, which focuses on specialties from restaurants located all around the country that fit one specific episode theme, came to Milwaukee in May to shoot Comet’s homey and cheesy Tuna Mac Casserole as part of an episode entitled “Meltdown.” The first airing will be October 1 at 7 p.m. CST, with subsequent showings scheduled for Monday, October 2 at 2 p.m. and Saturday, October 28 at 1 p.m. Set those DVRs now, and think about heading to Comet to try the Tuna Mac, so you can say you ate it before it was famous.
