It’s a scientific fact that nothing beats October. The weather is awesome, Halloween is lurking around the corner, and businesses go nuts with “Rocktober” and “Shocktober” events. In the case of the latter, the Avalon Theater, Rosebud Cinema, and Times Cinema are going especially nuts with “Shocktoberfest,” a two-weekend, end-of-the-month Halloween blowout featuring some terrific horror classics and a few spooky family-friendly-ish selections. Want to see The Shining, The Exorcist, Alien, or A Nightmare On Elm Street (the original, thank god) at midnight on the big screen? Look no further. How about The Addams Family, Ghostbusters, or Beetlejuice at 11:30 a.m. with your creepy nieces or nephews? You’re in luck.

Check out the full “Shocktoberfest” lineup below. All tickets are $5, which is spooktacular news.
