Black Arts Fest MKE announced on Thursday that it was canceling its 2020 event, originally scheduled for August 1 at Henry Maier Festival Park. The cancelation follows similar announcements from fellow Summerfest-grounds festivals PrideFest, German Fest, Polish Fest, Festa Italiana, and Milwaukee Irish Fest. Summerfest itself has been moved to September.
“Final decision to cancel this year’s comes after careful consideration of the mounting health concerns and community hardships arising from the COVID-19 crisis,” Black Arts Fest MKE chairman Derek Tyus says in a statement. “Black Arts Fest MKE will return in 2021. Until then, stay safe and be well.”
Black Arts Fest MKE held its inaugural event in 2018.
