In case you missed all the recent shitty hubbub, here’s a quick rundown: Controversy erupted last week when a photo of three pistol-packing, limp-dicked contract workers from American Sewer Services—on a job site near N. 19th St. and W. Meinecke Ave.—made its way to social media. “This is how you finish Concrete in milwaukee,” read the caption. Tough guys! Following some discussion (and further controversy) by the Milwaukee Common Council, another photo from an American Sewer Services job site in Milwaukee surfaced, this one depicting a cooler apparently decked out in Confederate flag and fucking KKK stickers. The picture was posted to Facebook by Sam Singleton-Freeman. “Department of Public Works’ spokesperson Sandy Rusch Walton says the city is still investigating the incident at this time,” notes Urban Milwaukee, “but did confirm that the cooler is believed to belong to an employee of American Sewer Services.” Fuuuuuuck you, American Sewer Services.

So now, this coming Monday at 6 p.m., in front of Milwaukee City Hall, there’s going to be a press conference and rally to tell this shit head where to stick it. A press release from Jacob Flom, chair of the Young Workers Committee; and DiAndre Jackson, president of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, is below:

Rally and press conference to condemn city contractor displaying KKK logo

Monday December 11th at 6:00pm
In front of Milwaukee City Hall

Sponsored by the Young Workers Committee of the Milwaukee Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO, Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, The Milwaukee Dr. Martin Luther King Justice Coalition.

Organized labor groups will gather Monday to condemn the contractor working for American Sewer Service who displayed the KKK logo on 25th and Wells on Friday while working on a project for the City of Milwaukee.

No worker can be both a unionist and a fascist, white supremacists are the enemy of organized labor and the entire multinational working class. The KKK is a white supremacist terrorist group responsible for killing African Americans, LBGTQ people, trade unionists, and others.

Unions stand for economic and social justice, and we condemn and actively fight against white supremacy and fascism in the workplace and society.

We call on the City of Milwaukee to immediately end all contracts with American Sewer Service. Furthermore, we call on the City of Milwaukee to employ union represented city employees at prevailing wage. Finally, we call on union brothers and sisters to build the trade union movement to smash bigotry, fascism, and economic and racial oppression.
