Milwaukee is great and all, but there doesn’t seem to be enough dudes with beards. Oh wait, they’re fucking everywhere. This post was being written by a dude with a beard. As commonplace as the beard has become, they’re like snowflakes—hairy, food-collecting snowflakes—with no two looking exactly alike. Milwaukee photographer and admitted beard-lover Jessica Kaminski wants to capture the city’s diverse cornucopia of guys with outgrown facial hair and raise money for men’s health in the process with her “MKE Beard Project” photo book, but she needs your help.

Kaminski’s “MKE Beard Book” Kickstarter campaign launched today, and she’s seeking a mighty sum of $15,000 to be pledged by September 20 to make the book possible. In the campaign’s accompanying video, Kaminski claims to have rounded up “a plethora of great subjects to photograph for the book.” Some of the subjects featured in the video include Twin Brother’s Sean Raasch, 88Nine Radio Milwaukee on-air personalities Tarik Moody and Marcus Doucette, and illustrator Kristopher Pollard (or “KPolly”). Rewards for backers range from a simple thank you ($5) to a 16 x 20 metal print of a Kaminski original ($350), with most levels between offering a copy of the book and entry to the November 5 release party/Whips show at Hotel Foster. For each book sold, Kaminski will give $5 to a men’s health organization.

MKE Beard Book can easily be considered another in a long line of bizarre Milwaukee Kickstarter campaigns, but—even with the thankless omission of a certain website’s co-founder—it’s worth at least considering a donation if you fancy follicles, striking photographs of Milwaukee creatives, and supporting a good cause in the process.
