Boswell Book Company is known for a lot of things: being a breath of fresh, independent air in the world of bookselling; proudly continuing the homegrown traditions of its predecessor, Harry W. Schwartz; and bringing authors both known and less-than-known to its East Side store for readings and special appearances. And hey, every once in a while one of those authors happens to be an extremely well-known celebrity doing some side work in the world of literature. Take The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg, who is coming to Boswell Friday, October 30. Neat!

Eisenberg, who has appeared in everything from The Squid And The Whale to Zombieland, will give a talk and reading in support of his new collection of short stories, Bream Gives Me Hiccups. The book takes its title from its first story, in which a nine-year-old writes reviews for fancy restaurants. (A number of these fictional reviews first appeared on McSweeney’s.) The event is free and open to the public, and begins at 7 p.m.

According to his publisher, this will be one of Eisenberg’s very first bookstore appearances for his new collection. The author/star will only sign copies of Bream Gives Me Hiccups, and his plays, The Spoils and The Revisionist. So yeah, leave your Social Network/Mark Zuckerberg action figures at home.
